We are proud to announce that Scotmid Co-operative has gained the Fair Tax Mark. Scotmid’s success takes the number of Fair Tax retailers to nearly 4,450, spread across the UK and serving all consumer sectors. They join other retailers including Lush Cosmetics and the Co-operative Group.
This week, the UK came incredibly close to becoming a global leader in tax transparency. Amidst the media maelstrom that covers the UK following the EU Referendum, it’s perhaps unsurprising that there was little coverage of the #ShowMeTheMoney amendment to the Finance Bill that was passing through parliament on Tuesday, 28th June.

Today (27th January) a campaign has been launched across England and Northern Ireland urging people to lobby their local councils to get tough with companies that dodge tax. The Fair Tax Mark will be supporting this campaign, which has been developed by Christian Aid.
We woke up this morning to find our inbox heaving with emails from business and individuals wanting to take positive action against tax avoidance, many of which were prompted by issues highlighted on last night’s BBC2 programme ‘The Town That Took on the Taxman’.
Today, the European Parliament supported, by an overwhelming majority, a series of legal recommendations that will seek to tackle corporate tax avoidance. The measures were detailed in a Tax Report from the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, and include proposals for a ‘Fair Tax Payer Label’ across Europe.
