Fluent in responsible tax conduct: Atlas Translations awarded first Fair Tax Mark
UK-based Atlas Translations have secured their first Fair Tax Mark accreditation, joining the growing movement of responsible businesses that are proud to ‘say what they pay with pride’. Founded in 1991, the St Albans business offers a wide range of personal and professional translation services in more than 340 languages. Clients have included the NHS and BBC.
ISO-certified and a member of the Association of Translation Companies, Atlas Translations’ Fair Tax Mark sits alongside other ethical credentials such as the Living Wage, Good Business Charter and Mindful Employer and Disability Confident certifications.
The Fair Tax Mark is an independent accreditation, which recognises organisations that demonstrate they are paying the right amount of corporation tax in the right place, at the right time. Businesses carrying the Fair Tax Mark include UK national brands such as Timpson, Lush, and Richer Sounds, listed companies including SSE and Marshalls Plc., as well as co-operatives, family businesses and social enterprises.
With the Fair Tax Mark accreditation, Atlas Translations have been verified as paying the right and fair amount of corporation tax, which help fund public services, grow the economy and reduce inequality. Polling* commissioned by the Fair Tax Foundation from Walnut Social Research has recently found that the vast majority of the UK public would rather shop with (70%) or work for a business (72%) that can prove it is paying its fair share of tax. More than three-quarters (76%) of the public believe that all companies, whatever their size, should have to publicly disclose the taxes they do or don’t pay in the UK.
Clare Suttie, Director, Atlas Translations, said:
“As a business owner, I honestly think paying tax is really important, and it’s a responsibility of companies to pay their share of tax too, which is why we are so pleased to now have the Fair Tax Mark. With the Fair Tax Mark accreditation, Atlas Translations have been verified as paying the right and fair amount of corporation tax, which helps fund public services, grow the economy, and reduce inequality. I’d urge you to consider the Fair Tax Mark for your business and ask companies you partner with if they would consider it too.”
Graham Drummond, Head of Communications and Movement Building, Fair Tax Foundation, said:
“With their Fair Tax Mark certification, Atlas Translations are definitely speaking the language of responsible tax conduct. The UK public is very much behind businesses that can prove they’re paying their fair share of tax, and employees will be further assured they’re working for a company committed to being ethical. Atlas Translations can now confidently demonstrate that they’re giving back to society through corporation tax contributions, supporting essential public services we all rely on such as education, healthcare, roads, policing and more. We’re very happy to have them in our movement of progressive businesses.”
