London Play Design embark on Fair Tax adventure
Playground preserver London Play Design CIC have achieved their first Fair Tax Mark, demonstrating their commitment to responsible tax and transparency.
London Play Design provide maintenance, design and technical support for outdoor play and other projects benefiting children and young people. Most of these are subsidised or provided free of charge. They are a community interest company, limited by shares, originally established in 2017.
The Fair Tax Mark is the world’s first accreditation for responsible tax conduct. It certifies that a business: seeks to follow the spirit, as well as the letter of the law; shuns corporate tax avoidance such as the artificial use of tax havens; and is transparent about profits made and taxes paid.
Max Mueller, London Play Design’s Technical Director, said:
“London Play Design are proud to be Fair Tax accredited. As a not-for-profit social enterprise working to protect London’s adventure playgrounds and support children’s right to play, we believe that paying the right amount of tax, being transparent and contributing fairly to the public services and communities around us are part of that commitment.”
Verified by a trusted third party – the Fair Tax Foundation – the Fair Tax Mark shows London Play Design’s collaborators they are committed to paying all taxes in accordance with the spirit of all tax laws that apply to their operations. The company collaborates with charities, local authorities, HM probation service and corporations.
Mueller added:
“Some of our local authority partners suggested that we look into Fair Tax accreditation. Having gone through the process, it’s become apparent that this is more than just another badge for our website – being accredited gives our partners, funders, volunteers and playground communities confidence that we are serious about responsible business, social value and long-term community benefit.”
Ocean Lam, Accreditation Officer at the Fair Tax Foundation, said:
“We’re delighted London Play Design have joined our 275-strong community of businesses upholding the best standards of corporate tax practice. By publishing a statement committing them to paying the right amount of tax in the right place at the right time, the team are excelling in tax transparency, which benefits business, collaborators, society and more. It means they can get back to what they do best: creating exciting adventures for children across the UK’s capital. Congratulations to London Play Design on their first Fair Tax Mark.”
