Active Wellbeing Works join fair tax community with first Fair Tax Mark
UK-based Active Wellbeing Works have been awarded the Fair Tax Mark, recognising their commitment to responsible and transparent tax conduct.
Active Wellbeing Works are a company owned entirely by The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS), a social justice organisation that works to improve wellbeing in communities where inequalities are the highest. TAWS work with people across the UK to reduce inequalities; strengthen communities; and help create healthier, happier, and more connected places.
Active Wellbeing Works provide commercial services, deliver leadership training and manage community leisure facilities. Any income they generate helps support the charitable aims of The Active Wellbeing Society. At the end of each financial year, all Active Wellbeing Works’ taxable profits are donated to the charity, so they can be reinvested in projects that improve community wellbeing.
Ramesh Balley, Head of Finance for Active Wellbeing Works, said:
“We’re pleased to have achieved Fair Tax Mark accreditation. This recognition reflects our commitment to responsible tax practices and transparent financial stewardship, demonstrating that ethical business conduct is central to how we operate.”
The Fair Tax Mark is the gold standard for responsible tax conduct. It is awarded to organisations that demonstrate they pay the right amount of corporate income tax in the right place at the right time, and shun the artificial use of tax havens and aggressive tax avoidance.
Ocean Lam, Accreditation Officer at the Fair Tax Foundation, added:
“Active Wellbeing Works are dedicated to tackling inequalities and strengthening communities across the UK. We’re delighted to welcome them to the Fair Tax Mark community. Their certification demonstrates that responsible tax conduct sits alongside social purpose, transparency and good governance as a core part of how they do business.”
The Fair Tax Mark is now held by hundreds of businesses in eight countries, including listed businesses, employee-owned businesses, co-operatives, mutuals and multinationals. Together they demonstrate that paying tax responsibly is an important part of contributing to the societies they operate in and building public trust.
