Fair Tax Week 2023 dates announced

Fair Tax Week 2023 will run from 8th – 18th June, incorporating Tax Justice Sunday on 11th June.

Fair Tax Week is a UK-wide recognition of the companies and organisations that are proud to promote responsible tax conduct and financial transparency.

Through webinars, events and social media activity, Fair Tax Week will celebrate the positive contribution corporation tax makes to society.

A platform to highlight and explore topics such as beneficial ownership, ESG, anti-corruption and procurement, Fair Tax Week will consider the wider role of corporation tax.

The Week will also look at corporation tax as an important source of revenue for public services and how the public sector and individuals can play their part in contributing to a fairer economy for all.

Fair Tax Week 2023 arrives at an opportune moment with the UK’s version of a global minimum tax rate and Companies House reforms being progressed.

Graham Drummond, Head of Communications, Fair Tax Foundation, said:

“Fair Tax Week 2023 is all about celebrating the responsible UK businesses that are doing the right thing when it comes to tax. Corporation tax is so important when considered against the huge array of public services it helps fund – from education, health and social care, to flood defence, roads and policing. It’s important to honour the businesses committed to paying their fair share of tax.”

“With new UK regulations and reforms and the growing role of tax conduct in ESG considerations, a surge in tax transparency is coming. We know many businesses already pride themselves on being ahead of this curve, and Fair Tax Week is a perfect opportunity to recognise and celebrate them.”

Jaime Boswell, Head of Accreditation, Fair Tax Foundation, said:

“Corporate taxes should not be considered as a ‘cost’ to be avoided, but rather a measure of a business’ success and responsibility – a way of giving back to the society from which its successes are derived.

“Tax is increasingly becoming a major part of ESG and sustainability considerations, and there continue to be calls globally for businesses to be more transparent about their economic operations and tax contributions.

“Fair Tax Week is an ideal time to discuss these topics and promote those businesses dedicated to act within both the spirit and letter of the law. It’s a celebration of those who strive for fairness, and who reject financial secrecy and aggressive or artificial tax planning arrangements.”
